When Doctors Shelly Lowe and Irene Sang met in optometry school, they had no idea they would become business partners and life-long friends.  But when they both settled in the Pasadena area, the search for the perfect office location began.  Located in the historic Baranger Studios building, South Pasadena Optometric Group was formed in 1991.  As word of mouth spread and the practice grew, Dr. Cindy Wang joined the optometric team in 2000.  Our latest addition to the optometric staff is Dr. Shawn Yamamoto who joined the practice in 2007.  Each year the practice grows, and implements new technology, while staying dedicated to providing "small town, personal service".
 
We recognize the importance of providing our patients with the best care and each doctor has dedicated many hours of extra training to areas of special interest.  Drs. Lowe and Wang provide low vision testing and prescribe special-fitted aids such as magnifiers and telescopes to help the visually-impaired to improve and enhance their remaining vision.  They are also trained to examine infants and children starting at three months of age.  Dr. Sang works with contact lens patients that have tried and failed in the past, as well as with patients who have diseased or distorted corneas and require rigid contact lenses to be able to see clearly.  Dr. Yamamoto continues to pursue additional training alongside an ophthalmologist to comanage glaucoma, pterygiums and various ocular diseases.   
 
All four doctors have dedicated themselves to making sure that each patient receives the finest eye examination they've ever had and that they were treated well by every member of the South Pasadena Optometric Group.
